Daines Honors Montanans of the Week: Super Bowl Competitors Dwan Edwards and Brock Osweiler

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl 50 matchup of the Carolina Panthers versus the Denver Broncos, Senator Steve Daines today recognized two Montana natives playing on the competing teams: Panthers defensive tackle Dwan Edwards and Broncos backup quarterback Brock Osweiler. Daines wished the two men luck in this Sunday’s game and thanked them for being strong role models for young Montanans.  Dwan, a Columbus native, graduated in 1999 from Columbus High School. WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senator Steve Daines today recognized Blake Wombold of Heart Butte, a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army Reserves, for his generous contribution of new shoes for the Heart Butte High School Boys basketball team. This year marks the second year that Blake has donated new shoes to Heart Butte’s basketball team. WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senator Steve Daines today honored Rick Young of Forsyth, a U.S. Marine, for his dedicated efforts to expand quality health care for all Montana veterans. Despite suffering from a serious illness himself, Rick was able to successfully advocate for area veterans to receive long-term care through the Rosebud Health Care Center (RHCC) in Forsyth. RHCC recently established a contract with the VA, which now allows for veterans to receive long-term care in Forsyth rather than having to travel a greater distance to the approved Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) facility in Glendive. WASHINGTON, D.C. — In honor of National Adoption Month, Senator Steve Daines today honored Mrs. Mary Crawford, an adoptive parent from Stevensville, Montana. Mary and her husband have selflessly opened their homes and hearts to nine foster children, six of whom they have since adopted.  Daines is an original cosponsor of S.Res. 315, a resolution to designate November as National Adoption Month and November 21 as National Adoption Day. WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senator Steve Daines today honored the service of Alex Collie of Mackenzie, Montana. Mr. Collie is the recipient of the National Weather Service’s General Albert J. Myer award for completing 65 years of service as a Cooperative Weather Observer.  On November 4th, the National Weather Service will recognize Mr. Collie with the General Albert J. Myer award at the Rib and Chop House in Miles City.
