U.S. SENATE — This week, U.S. Senator Steve Daines sent a letter to President Trump showing support for the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and to urge passage of the trade deal.
“We are writing because we stand ready to assist in helping you secure a pathway to Congressional consideration of the recently concluded United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) this 115thCongress,” the letter states. “If you choose to pursue consideration of the USMCA before the end of the 115th Congress, we commit to working with you in a consultative manner to draft implementing legislation that could win our votes, as well as a majority in the House and Senate.”
Daines, joined by 11 other Senators, stressed the importance of finalizing the trade agreement this Congress, highlighting a congressional pathway for implementation. The USMCA will require Congressional approval prior to being implemented.
The USMCA will help provide certainty for Montana farmers, ranchers and businesses.
