Daines Announces $750,000 for Billings Airport, $600,000 for Missoula Airport

U.S. SENATE — U.S. Senator Steve Daines today announced that two Montana airports will receive $1,350,000 in funds to attract new routes for Montana.

  • Billings Logan International Airport: $750,000: Revenue guarantee and marketing campaign to attract new service to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

  • Missoula County Airport: $600,000: Revenue guarantee and marketing campaign for service to a Texas hub. 

“This is exciting news for Montanans who rely on these airports for reliable air travel and will increase options for Montanans and tourists who want access to global destinations at an affordable price,” Daines stated. “This will continue to open doors for economic opportunity and job creation for Montana small businesses.” 

These funds are made available through the Small Community Air Service Development Program that Daines’ secured in both the Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization and the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. 

Daines wrote letters in support of these grants for both Billings and Missoula.  

Daines increased Small Community Air Service Development Grant Program (SCASDP) from $6 million to $10 million for Fiscal Year 2017, leveraging federal dollars with local dollars, which has enabled expanded service, multiple awards to Montana airports:

  • Butte, Kalispell, Bozeman, Missoula, West Yellowstone, Helena, Great Falls
  • Most recently, bringing American Airline service from Bozeman to Dallas

As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Daines has been working to expand air service throughout Montana. He recently applauded American Airlines expansion into the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport and the United Airlines summer route from Great Falls International Airport to Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
