Daines: Democrats’ Reckless $3.5 Trillion Tax & Spending Spree will Increase Taxes on Montana Workers, Families, Small Businesses

U.S. SENATE— U.S. Senator Steve Daines today spoke on the floor of the United States Senate urging his colleagues to oppose Congressional Democrats’ reckless $3.5 trillion tax and spending spree bill. The Democrats’ proposed bill would push America down the path of socialism and force Montanans to pay for it through massive new tax hikes. To watch the full speech, click HERE. Daines’ remarks as prepared for delivery: “I rise today to join my colleagues in speaking out against the Democrats’ reckless $3.5 trillion dollar tax and spending spree bill that Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are rushing through Congress.   “This is the largest spending bill in our nation’s

Daines to Biden: Continued Closure of Northern Border for Montanans vs Keeping Southern Border Open to Illegal Immigrants is Beyond Hypocritical, Hurting Montana

U.S. SENATE — U.S. Senator Steve Daines released the following statement after President Biden once again extended the closure of the northern border until at least October 21. This extension comes despite the Biden administration keeping the southern border open to historic numbers of illegal immigrants, many potentially unvaccinated.  “Once again, President Biden has ignored the well-being of Montana families and businesses. Biden’s continued refusal to open the northern border is inexplicable and is devastating Montana border communities and our economy,” Daines said. “While Biden keeps the northern border closed, the southern border is wide open to illegal immigrants, many of whom are potentially unvaccinated, flooding our communities with illegal drugs

Daines Presses Biden Administration for Answers on Vetting Process for Evacuees Out of Afghanistan

U.S. SENATE —  U.S. Senator Steve Daines today pressed Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for clear details on the vetting process used for evacuees out of Afghanistan before they enter the United States to ensure the U.S. is not granting entry to dangerous individuals or child traffickers. “I write to seek more clarity regarding the admission and vetting of refugees and other individuals from Afghanistan. While admitting those who served alongside U.S. forces and those who would face religious persecution is laudable, there is a great deal of public confusion as to the full scope of those who are entering the

Daines Slams Biden Decision to Move BLM Headquarters From Colorado to DC

U.S. SENATE — U.S. Senator Steve Daines slammed President Biden and Department of Interior Secretary Deb Haaland for the decision to move the Bureau of Land Management’s headquarters from Colorado to DC.   “Because of Secretary Ryan Zinke’s leadership, we finally saw the Bureau of Land Management headquartered in the West, with leadership closer to the vast majority of our federal lands and the people impacted by the Bureau’s decisions. By undoing this, President Biden and Secretary Haaland are taking the Bureau in the wrong direction. Clearly, they are more interested in ballooning the DC bureaucracy than in making government work better for the people.” #### Contact: Katherine

Daines Slams Biden for Top-Down Vaccine Mandate, Questions Constitutionality

U.S. SENATE — U.S. Senator Steve Daines today issued the following statement on President Biden’s vaccine mandates. “I’m strongly opposed to mandating COVID-19 vaccines, including for federal workers and private businesses in Montana. President Biden’s mandate is Washington at its worst and I have serious concerns with the constitutionality and lawfulness of this big government overreach. Top-down government mandates are simply not the way to get more people vaccinated,” Daines said. #### Contact: Katherine McKeogh, Katie Schoettler

Daines, Colleagues Demand Google Stop Silencing Pro-Life Views, Reverse Unjust Censorship

U.S. SENATE — U.S. Senator Steve Daines, founder and chair of the Senate Pro-Life Caucus, today led a group of 10 senators to demand answers from the CEO of Google, Mr. Sundar Pichai, on Google’s double standard in censoring pro-life Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) advertisements while continuing to allow advertisements for deadly abortion pills. “While banning pro-life APR ads, Google continues to allow ads for purveyors of the deadly abortion pill mifepristone by mail, despite the fact this drug has resulted in at least 24 mothers’ tragic deaths and at least 1,042 mothers being sent to the hospital. Google’s double standard on abortion is disingenuous and an egregious abuse

Daines Continues Fight to Prevent & End Government Shutdowns for Good

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines reintroduced legislation to put an end to government shutdowns. The “Prevent Government Shutdowns Act of 2021,” would automatically fund the government for 14 days if funding has not been enacted on time, and it would require Congress to stay in town until it does its job. “It’s not rocket science–Congress needs to do its job and fund the government,” Daines said. “Shutdowns don’t work. They waste taxpayer dollars, place undue burdens on federal employees and leave the U.S. more vulnerable to adversaries. Hardworking Montanans shouldn’t pay the price of Washington D.C.’s failures. We must put an end to reckless government shutdowns for good.” Background: Daines introduced a previous version of the “End
