Daines: Reports of Biden Admin Quietly Shuttering Montana Veteran Health Care Facilities is Unacceptable

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today slammed reports that the Biden administration is quietly closing veteran health care clinics across Montana. Daines spoke directly with Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Denis McDonough to share his concerns about the potential closures and the impacts to Montana veterans. Last month Daines also requested answers and transparency from the VA on the potential closures. “Reports that the VA under Biden plans to silently shutter health care clinics across Montana is absolutely unacceptable. Countless Montana veterans rely on VA health care facilities for critical care and we must do everything we can to ensure these important services remain available to the men and

Daines’ Effort to Strike Down Biden’s Vaccine Mandate for MT Healthcare Workers Passes U.S. Senate

U.S. SENATE – Today Senator Steve Daines’ effort to strike down President Biden’s overreaching federal vaccine mandate for Montana healthcare workers passed the U.S. Senate.  “While I am pro-vaccine, I am anti-mandate. President Biden’s vaccine mandate for healthcare workers threatens to cripple our rural hospitals, impact patient care and intensify the worker shortage at our health care facilities,” Daines said. “While I’m glad to see my effort to strike down Biden’s mandate for Montana’s healthcare heroes and rural health providers pass the U.S. Senate, I’m extremely disappointed that all Senate Democrats opposed it. We must work to support our healthcare heroes, not burden them with additional mandates.”

Daines Statement on President Biden’s State of the Union Address

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today issued the following statement in response to President Biden’s State of the Union address.  “Under President Biden’s leadership, the state of the union is in jeopardy. Over the last year, Biden has lacked leadership on the world stage, emboldened our adversaries and created an inflation crisis, a southern border crisis and an American energy crisis with Montana families paying the price. The President must take ownership for his first year of failures and stop putting the far-Left above Montanans. There is still time for Biden to right this ship, and I strongly encourage

Daines: Democrats’ Abortion on Demand Until Birth Act is Holy Grail of the Left’s Radical Pro-Abortion Agenda

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines, founder and chair of the Senate Pro-Life Caucus, today gave remarks on the floor of the United States Senate slamming the Democrats’ radical “Abortion on Demand Until Birth Act,” which goes further than any pro-abortion law in the history of Congress. Daines Statement on President Biden’s Supreme Court Nomination

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today issued the following statement on President Biden’s announcement of Ketanji Brown Jackson as his nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court:  “I’ll be closely examining Judge Jackson’s record and interpretation of the Constitution,” Daines said. “Any Supreme Court Justice must understand the importance of not legislating from the bench and upholding the Constitution. With that said, I’m disappointed that President Biden chose to appeal to his far-Left base with this nomination, rather than listen to voices on both sides of the aisle calling for a Supreme Court nominee who would enjoy strong bipartisan support and consensus.”  ###

Daines to Biden: Restart the Keystone XL Pipeline Immediately

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today is calling on the Biden administration to immediately reauthorize construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. “President Biden set us on a dangerous path when he decided to kill the Keystone XL pipeline on Day One in office,” Daines said. “What’s happening in Russia and Europe is a stark reminder of the need to support American energy development, not hinder it. Energy security is national security, and a global energy dominant America is a safer world. Biden must restart the Keystone XL pipeline now.” Background: Daines has been leading the fight in the U.S. Senate to support made

Daines Introduces Bill to Support Montana Truckers, Ban Vaccine Mandates for Essential Cross-Border Travel

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines introduced legislation to ban vaccine mandates for essential workers crossing the border. “Biden’s overreaching vaccine mandates are wreaking havoc on our entire country. They’re hurting small businesses, burdening the labor force and worsening the supply chain crisis,” Daines said. “It’s time we put an end to Biden’s big government mandates that are unnecessarily straining our truck drivers, jobs and the economy.” The supply chain has suffered major disruptions because of the coronavirus pandemic. Overwhelmed ports and rail stations have suffered from significant labor shortages, slowing the ability to transport goods and resulting in higher prices for consumers. The

Daines Statement on Russia Invading Ukraine

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today released the below statement following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.  “I’m praying for the people of Ukraine and condemn Putin’s outrageous attack on their sovereignty and independence. Putin is a thug, and he has been empowered and emboldened by Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan and his approval of Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline while killing America’s Keystone XL pipeline,” Daines said. “The skyrocketing price of oil and resulting inflation are stark reminders of the importance of increasing, not decreasing, made in America energy. I do not support sending American troops to Ukraine.”   ###   Contact: Rachel Dumke,  Katie
