U.S. SENATE — U.S. Senator Steve Daines today secured the passage of his legislation to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent efficiently and effectively at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).   This morning the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs overwhelmingly passed both S.886 – DHS Acquisition Review Board Act and the S.906 – Reduce DHS Acquisition Cost Growth Act.   “We need more accountability and transparency with taxpayer dollars,” Daines stated. “Making government more efficient should be bipartisan and I appreciate the bipartisan support today.”   DHS spends over $7 billion on acquisition programs annually. U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines met with White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) Acting Director Richard Baum on ways to combat the growing problem of methamphetamine in Montana.   “Meth is ruining lives across our great state. U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today secured his recommendations in U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Superfund Task Force Report released by Administrator Scott Pruitt.   “With nearly 20 National Priority List Superfund sites in Montana, it’s a high priority of mine to ensure we are doing all we can to work toward cleaning them up,” Daines stated “I am glad to see Administrator Pruitt take into account my recommendations and I look forward to continue working with the EPA to improve the Superfund program.”   On June 27, Daines sent a letter to Pruitt that included recommendations for improvements to the Superfund

U.S. SENATE — U.S. Senator Steve Daines today announced $5,024,695.00 in critical funding for four Montana airports in Glendive, Billings, Butte and Kalispell. “Montana airports play a critical role in our communities,” Daines stated. “This funding will make a big difference in keeping our airports in good shape for current and future use.” Daines secured the following provisions in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization: Airport Improvement Program (AIP) dollars which build and maintain Montana’s critical aviation infrastructure such as runways.
