Daines Announces Firefighting Grants to Three Western Montana Communities

U.S. SENATE —U.S. Senator Steve Daines today announced firefighting grant funding for three fire departments in Western Montana communities. The City of Deer Lodge Volunteer Fire Department, Charlo/Moiese Rural Fire District, and Corvallis Rural Fire District all received funds as part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. “It is vital that we give our first responders in rural communities the resources that they need to protect lives and property. Forest Service Responds to Daines’, Gianforte’s Request, Announces Approval of Rice Ridge Salvage Project

U.S. CONGRESS — The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) once again responded to Senator Steve Daines and Rep. Greg Gianforte’s request to expedite salvage projects, announcing that they will sign the Rice Ridge Fire Salvage Project located near Seeley Lake on the Lolo National Forest in Missoula and Powell Counties. Under the approved Emergency Situation Determination (ESD), the Lolo National Forest is able to expedite timber sales for the Rice Ridge project during the fall of 2018.
