Daines Announces Appropriations Subcommittee Assignments

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Steve Daines today announced that he has been selected to serve on five Senate Appropriations subcommittees.

Daines will serve on the Senate Appropriations Subcommittees on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration and Related Agencies; Defense; Interior, Environment and Related Agencies; State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs; and Transportation, Housing and Urban Development and Related Agencies.

Daines noted that the subcommittees’ focus will address a number of issues of great importance to Montana, including the management of public lands and support for Montana’s mission at Malmstrom Air Force Base by ensuring that our service members have the full funds needed to protect our national security interests. Daines also expressed the importance of both Montana Senators being selected to serve on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture.

“From working to strengthen our infrastructure to advocating for Montana’s robust agriculture industry, these subcommittees will allow me to lend an even larger voice to our state’s diverse interests in the Senate,” Daines stated. “I look forward to continuing to work to protect Montanans from reckless government spending and senseless overreach and find solutions that increase economic opportunity for hardworking Montana families, small businesses, ranchers and farmers.”

Daines also serves on the Senate Committees on Commerce, Science and Transportation, Energy and Natural Resources and Indian Affairs. Subcommittee assignments for the Committees on Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee and Energy and Natural Resources are expected to be made in coming days.
