Sen. Steve Daines has honored former Flathead High School star quarterback Brock Osweiler as one of a pair of Montanans who will be on the roster for Super Bowl 50.
Osweiler and Dwan Edwards, formerly of Columbus, were named by Daines as Montanans of the Week. The senator paid tribute to the men in the Congressional Record on Thursday.
Osweiler is the backup quarterback for the Denver Broncos, and started seven games for the team earlier this year while Peyton Manning was injured. Osweiler graduated from Flathead High in 2009, and went on to play for Arizona State before being drafted by the Broncos in 2012.
Edwards played ball for Columbus High School prior to his 1999 graduation. He later played for Oregon State and was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2004. He also played for the Buffalo Bills and is now a defensive tackle for the Carolina Panthers.
“My biggest congratulations goes out to both of these fine men for representing the great state of Montana well, both on and off the field,” Daines said. “Best of luck to you both in Super Bowl 50 this Sunday. Keep making Montana proud.”
Daines noted that Osweiler has “given back to Flathead and its football program by regularly sending letters of encouragement to the high school team and donating a Flathead Football captains board in 2014.”
