U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today announced $3,565,062 in funding for critical upgrades at the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport.
“As someone who travels regularly through the Bozeman Airport, I know how important this airport is for both tourists and Montanans to keep our state connected,” Daines stated. “With this additional funding, Bozeman Airport can continue to make the Bozeman area a great place to do business for years to come.”
The grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation and will be used to rehabilitate the taxiway and taxiway lighting.
“First, we would like to thank the Senator and his staff for helping us secure the grant. This discretionary grant is a very important funding source for our main taxiway rehabilitation project and will keep the project on schedule for completion mid-2017,” Scott Humphrey, Deputy Airport Director at Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport stated. “FAA funding is a critical component for infrastructure upgrades and allows us to continually expand and improve our Airport for the benefit of visitors and our community.”
On July 12, 2016, Daines announced $2,324,655.00 in funding for Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport.
Daines secured the following provisions in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization:
- Airport Improvement Program (AIP) dollars which build and maintain Montana’s critical aviation infrastructure such as runways.
- Also secured language that ensures if airports see a decrease in enplanements for a year, they don’t lose AIP dollars.
- Daines has also engaged the FAA to expedite grants to northern states with short construction seasons.
