Daines Secures Funding for University of Montana Upward Bound Program

U.S. SENATE —U.S. Senator Steve Daines today announced $356,313.00 in funding for the University of Montana’s Upward Bound Program that had previously been denied due to a clerical error.

“At long last the Upward Bound Program is receiving the funds it requested on the merits of their application,” Daines stated. “The qualification for federal dollars shouldn’t be discarded for simple formatting errors – that is federal bureaucracy at its worst. I’m glad to see the Department of Education make it right and these funds going to the right place.”

This grant will be in the amount of $356,313.00 for the first budget period (06/01/2017 through 05/31/2018). It is anticipated that the grant will be for a total of 5 year(s).

On May 22, Daines urged Education Secretary Betsy DeVos to reconsider the denied grant application. Daines spoke to DeVos on May 25 urging her personally to reconsider this grant.
