“The Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act is about fairness, about justice and about congressional intent,” Daines said. “The intent of congress was to ensure that those who served in Vietnam and were exposed to agent orange are getting the care they need and deserve. It’s time to make this wrong, right. We need to take away the muddy water of the VA and pass the bipartisan Blue Water bill to protect our veterans. I urge my colleagues to support this and get it done before the year end.”
Last night, Daines took to the floor of the U.S. Senate to urge passage of the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act by unanimous consent. One senator blocked the effort. Daines will continue to fight to ensure final passage of the bill. The measure passed unanimously in the House.

In 2017, Daines and Gillibrand reintroduced the bipartisan Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act to help Navy veterans harmed by Agent Orange. The bill changes current law to guarantee that veterans exposed to Agent Orange while serving in the territorial waters of Vietnam can receive treatment and benefits from the VA.
