U.S. SENATE—U.S. Senator Steve Daines shared that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced that Montana’s farmers affected by natural disasters in 2018 and 2019 will be eligible to apply for the Quality Loss Adjustment (QLA) Program to receive funds that will help alleviate financial loss due to severe weather incidents.
“This is long overdue for our farmers in Northeast Montana who have faced excessive rain and substantial flooding in the past few years,” Daines said. “I am thankful that the USDA has granted access to this vital program that will help our producers get back on their feet after devastating losses.”
The QLA Program will accept applications from eligible farmers from Wednesday, January 6th, 2021 to Friday, March 5th, 2021. More information regarding this announcement and how to apply for the QLA Program can be found HERE.
Background:
Last January, Daines sent a letter to the Department of Agriculture urging Secretary Sonny Perdue to implement similar provisions that were focused on providing assistance to producers of sugar beets.
On October 7th, 2019, Daines sent a letter to Secretary Perdue asking for eligibility of Montana farmers to apply for assistance crop loss due to excessive rainfall.
