U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines slammed Senate Democrats for blocking passage of his bill, the “Gas Prices Relief Act,” which would prevent the Biden administration from further stifling American energy production and increasing gas prices on hardworking Montanans.

“The pain at the pump Montana families are feeling today is because of President Biden and the Democrats’ anti-American energy policies… I’m urging my colleagues across the aisle to think about hardworking Montana families trying to make ends meet, to think about their constituents who depend on affordable gas prices to get to work or drop their kids off at school. I’m urging my colleagues across the aisle who say they support American energy development and want to lower gas costs to talk to their colleagues and convince them we need to pass this bill for American families,” Daines said.
“By blocking this bill, my Democrat colleagues are saying the quiet part out loud – they don’t really care about high gas prices so long as they’re able to push their radical climate-crazy agenda. Democrats are waging a war on Made in America energy, and Montanans are paying the price at the pump,” Daines said after the Democrats blocked passage of his bill.
Daines’ “Gas Prices Relief Act” would stop any new rule or regulation from going into effect if it would:
- Decrease oil, gas, or biofuels production
- Increase gasoline prices
- Have negative impacts on energy production, domestic electricity generation, transmission of fuel or electricity
The prohibition on new regulations impeding energy development would remain in effect until either January 1, 2023 or until the national average consumer gas price is $2.60 or less. The current national average is $5.01 a gallon.
