Daines Statement on New Study Showing Alarming Effects of Abortion Pill

1 in 10 women experience serious adverse effects

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today released the below statement following a new report from the Ethics and Public Policy Center about the alarming effects of the abortion pill on women.

“The science is clear: the abortion pill is not safe for women, and it never has been. This recent study is proof that pro-abortion advocates care more about promoting their radical agenda than they do about women’s health. I urge the FDA to reinstate safety protocols for mifepristone, so that we can protect the health of women and uphold the dignity of life,” said Daines.

The new study from the Ethics and Public Policy Center found that serious adverse effects from the abortion pill are approximately 22 times more frequent than recognized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). 1 in 10 women who undergo a mifepristone abortion experience serious adverse effects within 45 days- far higher than the rate reported in clinical trials on the drug label.
