In honor of National School Choice Week, U.S. Senator Steve Daines today reintroduced the “Academic Partnerships Lead Us to Success (A-PLUS) Act,” a bill to keep education tax dollars in the hands of Montana parents, teachers and local leaders.
“Bureaucrats in Washington don’t know Montana students like Montana parents and teachers do,” said Daines. “That’s why our education tax dollars should be spent by Montanans on Montanans. The future is brighter when our students are receiving high-quality local education from the ones who know their individual needs.”
Senators James Lankford (R-Okla.), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.), Tim Sheehy (R-Mont.), Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) and Ted Budd (R-N.C.) joined Daines in introducing the legislation.
Congressman John R. Moolenaar (MI-02) plans to introduce the legislation in the U.S. House Representatives.
“State and local governments know their students’ needs better than Washington bureaucrats and have a primary responsibility for education. The A Plus Act sends money back to the states, so state and local governments can address their educational needs as they see fit. This legislation cuts burdensome red-tape and moves funding closer to parents and students,” said Moolenaar.
