Staff Closed Hundreds of Cases, Attended Over 2,000 Meetings in Montana
U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today announced that his staff helped return nearly $5 million from the federal government to Montanans in 2024 and closed hundreds of cases.
“Addressing the needs of Montanans is one of the greatest honors of my life and one of the reasons I ran for office. I’m proud of our dedicated team, whose commitment to constituents has paid off quite literally. We’ll always put Montanans first and fight for our great state,” said Daines.
In 2024, Daines’ office recovered $4,983,420 from the federal government to send back to Montanans. Over 90 percent of that money was recovered from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Specifically, Montanans received the following from federal agencies:

- $220,764 from the Social Security Administration (SSA)
- $38,974 from the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB)
- $29,106 from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM)
- $4,348 from Veterans Affairs (VA)
- $1,372 from Transportation Security Administration (TSA)
- $1,280 from United States Postal Service (USPS)
In addition to recovering money for hardworking Montanans, Daines’ office worked on nearly 1,000 casework messages from constituents and closed 534 cases, including nearly a quarter of veterans-related cases. Daines’ staff also attended over 2,000 meetings and events in Montana on behalf of Senator Daines in 2024.
