“If Congress can’t pass a budget on time, members should not get paid”
U.S. SENATE – U.S.Senator Steve Daines today issued the following statement after opposing the Senate’s short-term continuing budget resolution.
“Congress cannot continue to kick the budget can down the road. Every single year Congress finds itself in this position because it failed to do its job and pass appropriations bills on time,” said Daines.“Our budget process is broken, and passing yet another short-term fix that fails to address the crises facing Montana families like our open southern border and the nation’s drug epidemic is irresponsible. We need accountability in Washington and that starts now with holding members of Congress accountable and fixing this broken process. If Congress can’t pass a budget on time, members should not get paid.”
