U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today introduced an amendment to mandate the Department of Defense (DoD) base its promotion, selection, assignment and other personnel decisions on merit and not race and gender. The Biden Defense Department advocates for using DEI criteria as a “necessity” and considers it a “force multiplier.” It also sets numerical racial quotas in its recruiting applicant pools.
“Gender and race-based discrimination has no place in America and especially not in the military. For decades our military has shown the world that people of diverse backgrounds can unite around a common purpose of serving an ideal higher than themselves and protect our freedom. The Biden Defense Department’s focus on race and gender destroys that ideal and in the process the morale of our men and women in uniform. This is dangerous as it destroys unit cohesion and weakens recruitment. If the administration will not wake up and reverse course on its own, it is up to Congress to force them to do what is in the best interest of every American citizen and stop this madness.”
Last week, Daines announced other amendments he is fighting for in the NDAA.
Daines has a history of securing big wins for Montana servicemembers and U.S. national security in the NDAA, including a pay increase for U.S. service members, repealing the vaccine mandate for service members and keeping women out of the draft. See information on some of these wins HERE.
