Daines Urges Biden to Facilitate Proactive Negotiations to Prevent West Coast Ports Strike

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines sent a letter to President Biden urging him to be proactive and facilitate negotiations to prevent a West Coast ports strike which would worsen the Biden administration’s ongoing supply chain crisis and sky-high inflation and endanger Montana farmers and ranchers access to critical export markets.

“We urge you to begin working with the ILWU and PMA to ensure their crucial work continues without interruption. Any delays caused by failed negotiations will have a drastic cost and impact on our nation’s supply chain. This cost will be felt by not only retailers and others that rely on ports for their business, but also by millions of American workers and farmers and ranchers, who may face short-term shutdowns as their factories address a shortage of parts or barriers to shipping their products to market,” Daines wrote.
