U.S. SENATE — At a U.S. Senate Finance Committee hearing this week, Senator Steve Daines called attention to health care policies in the Democrats’ $3.5 trillion reckless tax and spending spree bill that would create new entitlement programs, reduce private health coverage, and push Americans onto government-run health insurance.

“President Biden and the Democrats are pushing a big government, $3.5 trillion reckless tax and spending spree that will reshape the foundation of America, create new entitlement programs, and increase Americans’ dependence on government-subsidized, government-controlled insurance coverage. It will further increase Washington’s control over Americans’ lives, including when it comes to medical decisions—this is the last thing Montanans want,” Daines said.
Daines then shined a light on another attempt by the Democrats to erase the 45-year, bipartisan Hyde Amendment, which protects taxpayer dollars from being used to fund abortions. Watch and download the remarks HERE.
Additionally, Daines busted the myth Democrats are pushing that their massive spending bill will cost “nothing” despite estimates that the Democrats’ plan could add as much as 16% to the national debt. Daines also expressed his concerns that the bill would push Americans off the health plans they like and onto government-run health insurance.
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) recently confirmed these concerns in its analysis of the House Democrats’ tax and spend bill. In total, the Democrats’ plan will result in at least 2.8 million Americans losing their job-based health care coverage and instead pushing them onto government-controlled health insurance.
