BOZEMAN — U.S. Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) announced on Wednesday that he has participated in Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine blind trial.
Participants in a blind trial do not know if they are receiving the treatment or a placebo, but Daines has since tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies, according to a news release.
“My goal is to help build confidence and trust for Montanans and the American people wondering if they should take the vaccine when it is approved,” Daines stated in the release. “While I believe a vaccine is key to getting back to normal, I do not believe in mandating it. I would, however, encourage people to get the vaccine once approved, in consultation with their doctor.”
Pfizer announced Wednesday that a final analysis shows its vaccine candidate to be 95% effective in preventing the coronavirus.
