U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today announced that the Department of the Interior will grant Montana veterans and Gold Star Families free access to national parks and other public lands starting Veterans Day, November 11th, 2020.
“Montana veterans and Gold Star Families have given so much defending our freedom. I’m thankful to the Trump administration and Secretary Bernhardt for granting free admission to our national parks and public lands for our nation’s heroes and Gold Star Families,” Daines said.
Earlier this year, Daines introduced bipartisan legislation to provide Gold Star Families free admission into national parks and other federal public lands.
Gold Star Family members are those who are next of kin of a member of the United States Armed Forces who lost his or her life in a “qualifying situation,” such as a war, an international terrorist attack, or a military operation outside of the United States while serving with the United States Armed Forces.
