WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program will be directing $333,333.33 to the Vaughn Volunteer Fire Department.
“This is about ensuring our firefighters in Vaughn have the critical support needed to keep our communities safe during this fire season,” Daines said. “I will continue working to ensure all of our brave firefighters have the help they need as they work to battle wildfires across Montana.”
The AFG program makes funds available directly to fire departments, State Fire Training Academies and non-affiliated EMS organizations to support enhanced fire emergency response capabilities to fires and other hazards. Daines voted to secure funding for the AFG program last year.
On August 31st, 2020, Daines announced that AFG program would be $197,131 to the West End Volunteer Fire District in De Borgia.
On August 26th, 2020, Daines announced that AFG program would be directing $217,063.59 to the City of Great Falls and the East Missoula Rural Fire Department to support their fire departments’ ability to respond to fires and other public safety hazards.
On August 10th, 2020, Daines announced that the AFG program would be directing $196,496.64 to the fire departments in Manhattan and Missoula.
On July 30th, 2020, Daines announced that the AFG program would be directing $50,000 to support the local fire department in the City and County of Butte-Silver Bow.
