Daines Announces Administration to Prioritize Cleanup of Billings PCE Superfund Site

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today announced that the Billings PCE Groundwater State Superfund Site will be added to the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Superfund National Priorities List ensuring the site will be prioritized and eligible for funding for permanent clean up.

“I am pleased to hear that another Montana Superfund site will be prioritized for clean-up by the EPA. This decision is great news for folks in Billings and will ensure this site receives the resources and attention needed to protect the health of communities and restore this property for homes and businesses in Billings,” Daines said. “I will continue working with the Administration to ensure Montana Superfund sites receive the attention and resources needed for comprehensive clean-up.”

Background:

Daines has been instrumental in the efforts to cleanup Superfund sites across Montana.

In the Fall of 2018, Daines brought EPA Administrator Wheeler directly to Montana to discuss finalizing cleanup efforts in Silver Bow Creek/Butte Area and the Anaconda Smelter Co. Superfund with local, state, federal and community leaders.
