Daines Helps Secure Over $1 Million for the Career Training Institute in Helena

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today announced that the Career Training Institute in Helena will receive a $1,180,800 to support the YouthBuild program.

“This important grant will help get young Montanans the training they need for the jobs of tomorrow, while in turn increasing the quality and quantity of housing for those in need,” Daines said. “Investing in workforce development and training is critical to filling the growing jobs gap and getting young Montanans ready to enter the workforce.”

This grant is part of the Department of Labor’s YouthBuild program. The Department has administered the YouthBuild program since 2006. Program participants learn construction skills while constructing or rehabilitating affordable housing for low-income or homeless families in their own neighborhoods, as well as other occupational skills for in-demand industries that also require real-world work experience components.

Young people split their time between the occupational skills training site and the classroom, where they earn their high school diploma or equivalency degree and prepare for postsecondary opportunities.
