U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senators Steve Daines and Jon Tester today introduced a bipartisan amendment to the U.S. Senate Appropriations package which would address a longstanding staffing issue at the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport.
“Our airports are a critical piece to the tremendous economic growth we’re seeing in Bozeman and around our state,” Daines said. “I’m glad to introduce this bipartisan amendment which will address a longstanding issue and improve the quality of customer service at the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport.”
“As more folks come to experience everything the Big Sky State has to offer, it’s critical that our busiest airport has the tools it needs to operate as smoothly as possible,” Tester said. “Bozeman’s Yellowstone International Airport is an economic and tourism hub, and this amendment will make the FAA take into account the work that goes into keeping it running, especially when the weather is bad.”
The amendment would address issues with air traffic control tower staffing by changing the definition of a qualifying operation to include snow removal operations at the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport. As a result of that change, the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport would be allocated funding for an additional air traffic controller.
Background:
Daines and Tester introduced have long been supportive of this effort for the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport.
