U.S. SENATE —U.S. Senator Steve Daines reintroduced legislation to roll back the regulatory burdens and uncertainty facing too many Montana small businesses.
Daines’ bill, the Regulatory Predictability for Business Growth Act, ensures that small businesses aren’t subjected to unexamined and altered regulations that change at the whims of Washington bureaucrats.
“When you start a company or are working on growing your business, the last thing you need is the federal government creating more regulations,” Daines stated. “My bill ensures the voices of small business owners are heard when regulations that affect them are being discussed by out-of-state bureaucrats.”
The bill requires any interpretative rule to undergo the Notice and Comment process if it is used to change to a previously issued interpretative rule. It will ensure that any federal agency will not have broad unchecked authority without at least noticing businesses of dramatically altered rules. Also, the bill will ensure discussion and input from public stakeholders.
Daines’ bill is co-sponsored by U.S. Senators James Lankford (R-OK), Roy Blunt (R-MO) and Orrin Hatch (R-UT).
