U.S. SENATE —U.S. Senator Steve Daines today released the following statement after the U.S. Senate confirmed President Donald J. Trump’s nominee for Secretary of the U.S. Department of Defense, General James Mattis.
“General Mattis will brilliantly lead our armed forces and understands the role Montana plays in our national defense,” Daines stated. “I look forward to taking Secretary Mattis to Malmstrom AFB to meet the brave men and women who carry out their critical peace-through-strength mission every day.”
On January 17, Daines met with Mattis in his Washington, D.C. office where they discussed the importance of the mission at Malmstrom AFB and the modernization of the nuclear arsenal.
